I wondered, when I created this section, Crew Nausikaa, if it was such a bright idea. I mean, anyone that needs to advertise to find crew – is he someone I want to go sailing with? Is he Billy no mates?

Happily I do have people that crew regularly on Nausikaa, as well as a list of people who are keen. But, and here is the thing, they might not want to come sailing when I want them to, or perhaps as much as I want them to. It’s also a fact of life that lots of people have jobs to go to, children to feed, parties to go to – tiresome but true.

Having lived with all of the above for a few years, I thought that this year I would add this post, which I can reference from the local Plymouth Sailing Facebook Page, or from elsewhere, usually with specific details of when and from where I am seeking crew.

Assuming you have arrived from there – welcome! On this website you can see pictures of the yacht and read a little about me.

From a safety perspective, Nausikaa is equipped as a Category 3 offshore racing yacht.

There are life jackets, both inshore and offshore, available on board plus some spare waterproof clothing in my size.

It’s worth mentioning that I am not, don’t want to, and in any case am not insured to, do anything for hire or reward. Equally I am not offering to pay you for sailing with me.

I would like to assume that you have some relevant experience sailing on a medium sized yacht, although I am not asking for qualifications. In all honesty this isn’t intended as an offer for those who have never been sailing before and fancy having a go.

All that said, if you would like to come sailing please contact me.
