In the six months from mid April to mid October, NAUSIKAA is ready to explore the coastline of the South West of England, to take part in our local events, races and regattas or just provide a spot in which to rest up, perhaps in some magical unexplored creek.

For me, this website is an extension of the pleasure of owning NAUSIKAA. Much of that pleasure derives from keeping on top of the organising and the detail necessary for everything to operate smoothly. Even in winter there is a lot going on:I enjoy carrying out the maintenance and ships husbandry as the yacht is prepared, and perhaps improved, for the season ahead.

There is room here for a narrative and a record of what has been undertaken, as well as what is planned for the months ahead.

Being able to store and share pictures, documents, plus quick access to various levels of detail and information is invaluable. At the same time, the historical notes give the yacht its ‘story’ and inspire me to try to add to it by achieving something remarkable, or if not remarkable, at least to pass her on in as good a condition as she was in when I acquired her!

Hopefully the site may provide some inspiration to those who may wish to join me as crew, or maybe for someone considering buying a wooden yacht for the first time. I am proud owner No 13. One day owner No 14 will follow, and I hope the details I record here will be of some use.
